Huron Line Pedestrian Bridge
Windsor, Ontario

The bridge was designed using prestressed precast concrete box beams, four per side, each spanning ninety feet bearing on cast-in-place abutments.

Since the highway serves as the main artery of  business travel between Canada and the United States, the bridge had to be aesthetically pleasing. To help accomplish this there is a large area on the bridge set aside for the inclusion of landscaping, trees, and shrubbery. The Prestressed Group helped incorporate a precast planter into the design that would accommodate two or three full-grown trees, as well as other small bushes and flowers. The manufacturing of this piece was accomplished with a custom built form and two separate casts of concrete totaling over eleven cubic metres.
