Gate Bluegrass Precast is doing it’s part to help in the revitalization of Cincinnati’s riverfront area of downtown. Architectural Precast has proven to be the material of choice for the newly completed Paul Brown Stadium for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Great American Ballpark for the Cincinnati Reds, which is currently under construction.

The Paul Brown Stadium project, with radiused panels of various different dimensions and both ribbed and rock face liner pieces on the base proved to be a challenging task for both engineering and production. Because of the shape of the bowl of the stadium, nearly every panel was radiused along with some that were both radiused and sloping. The project consisted of over 132,000 square feet of white precast with a light sandblast finish.

Also included in the package were several hundred panels that form the plaza area surrounding the stadium. All dimensions for every panel on the stadium and plaza were located with coordinates that can be traced back to an origin point of the project, that is at the center of the 50-yard line on the field.

The Great American Ballpark with nearly 62,000 square feet of Precast, will be finished with two different buff colored precast panels that will separate the base of the structure from the upper areas.
These very different and unique designs for sports arenas show the versatility and possibilities of architectural precast.
